TESTIMONIALS
In observing Coach Newsham in a variety of areas, what caught my eye is he truly enjoys working with the players and helping them improve as both an athlete and a person.  He understands and appreciates the value of being a good teach.  His ability to establish good working relationships with his peers and players makes him a valuable asset in the coaching profession.  Coach Newsham was always a first-class individual who met each responsibility with the same amount of effort, enthusiasm and commitment as the next.

If your child wants to play college basketball, then he needs to attend any program that Coach Newsham runs.  He teaches and stresses to the players how to develop their game through constant repetition.  Players can really see their results in a short period of time.  I had the pleasure to work with Coach Newsham for two full seasons and his professional approach to coaching is refreshing.

Tim Murphy - Fairmont State University, Head Coach

Coach Newsham has great knowledge and insight of basketball.  And he has an incredible gift of teaching players who wish to better themselves.  He has built up a great recruiting network based upon his efforts with players and honest evaluations with college coaches.  We use many of the drills at the college level that he does with the players, so I know his clinics and workouts are as tough as the college workouts.  His best interest is always with the player and their family.

I have learned more in the past two months than the previous ten years of organized ball in relation to explosion, quickness and defensive footwork.  My jumpshot is getting more consistent and my ball handling is as strong with the left hand as the right.  Coach Newsham has put me in a position to realizing my lifelong dream of playing Division I basketball.  His workouts are easy to do on your own and he has a way of breaking down the drills so that you understand completely.

Kyle McAlarney Fundamental Clinic Parent/Coach Review

Here are a few comments from the state-wide clinic.

"Kyle McAlarney's workout with JJKN Hoops in Traverse City was efficient and well-run, despite covering a breadth of basketball skills. Kyle's ability to relate the 'game within the game' as experienced in the Big East to a group of players of different age, gender and ability, was invaluable. There were some high school coaches in the bleachers, and they all took notes at some point. I liked the pace of the drills, and how everyone got enough reps that you could actually see improvement in the moment. It was largely fundamental, conceptual basketball, and it was taught in a way the kids can remember and practice themselves, much more worthwhile than technical or trendy x-and-o's. I watched one of our Parallel 45 AAU players work out with Kyle, and had also seen him at a well-known (and rightfully so) big-time college 'elite' camp earlier in the summer. This player got more hands-on practice and coaching in two-and-a-half hours with JJKN Hoops than he did in an entire day of the elite camp."

Kyle McAlarney provided quality instruction to local high school athletes with tremendous personal interaction, outstanding drills that involved ball-handling, passing and a host of shooting techniques. You could visibly see his ‘high basketball IQ’ through his on-court demonstrations and instruction. And fully understand why he was capable of playing for a school like Notre Dame, while being an undersized guard who can really shoot the basketball from any angle and distance.
Warren Wood, Carrollton Varsity Boy's Coach

My nephew came over from Grand Rapids and this was his favorite basketball clinic he has ever attended.  The personal interaction he received was tremendous.  It was great to see Kyle share his love of the game with these players in such an intimate way.  Keep up the good work JJKN Hoops!

TJ & Kyle, Thanks again for a great opportunity to improve Chase's hoop game. The passion, intensity, and high tempo workout from Kyle,  was worth the 2 hour drive.  Kyle, took ball handing to the highest level that I have seen in a long time.  All the boys at that workout, now know what it takes to play at the D-1 LEVEL.

My daughter enjoyed the clinic with Kyle McAlarney because he was able to relate his coaching and drills to the details of game situations. He challenged each player on a personal level to raise their game and provided positive feedback. It’s great that JJKN Hoops can offer this level of player and coaching clinic because it definitely has made my daughter better and more confident on the court.

Jeff Scherting Parent/AAU Coach

Coach Newsham gave me the fundamental foundation of my basketball game.  It is fair to say that I wouldn't be half the player I am today without his tutelage in my younger years.  If you really want to become the best basketball player within you, listen to what coach Newsham says, it works!  He will get the most and then some out of you.
